Free study
Get a free study of your own data
Send us your RMF or CMF reports and a DCOLLECT extract. A Technical Storage expert analyses them in zPulse, then presents the results in a video call, with a written report. It costs nothing.
Process
How it works
Five steps, from your request to the results call. You stay in control of what you send.
Step 1: You send a request
Fill in the form below. It takes two minutes. Tell us which data you can provide and the size of your estate.
Step 2: You receive a secure link
We send you a link to a secure upload space by e-mail, with an extraction guide and sample JCL.
Step 3: You upload your files
Upload the data through that link. Anonymising it first is optional: we provide a tool for that.
Step 4: An expert analyses it in zPulse
A Technical Storage expert loads your data into zPulse and reads the results with thirty years of z/OS experience.
Step 5: We present the results
A video call to walk through the findings, then a written report that is yours to keep.
Your data
What to send
zPulse reads reports and extracts, not raw SMF records. Send what you have for the modules you care about: even a partial set tells us something.

Tape

DCOLLECT text extract
DCOLLECTvolume, data set and storage group inventory
A representative period of about two weeks, including a month-end or heavy batch window if you can. The extraction guide gives the exact format.
SMF types are listed only to show where each report comes from. You send the RMF or CMF reports, not the raw SMF records.
Confidentiality
Your data stays yours
Storage data describes your systems. We treat it that way, and you decide how far it travels.
A secure upload space
We send you the link to a secure upload space. Please do not send your files as e-mail attachments.
Deleted after 30 days
We delete your files 30 days after you upload them.
On-site study
If your policy forbids any data from leaving your premises, an expert runs the study on site, with zPulse on your own equipment. Nothing leaves your site. Mention it in your request.
Optional anonymisation
Before you upload, you can run our anonymisation tool on your listings. It replaces identifying names with stable pseudonyms, without changing the layout of a single line, so the analysis is unaffected.
What it replaces
- LPAR, system and SMF ID names, sysplex and capacity group names
- Disk array serial numbers and volume serials (DASD, tape, cache)
- SMS storage groups and job names
- Data set name qualifiers
- WLM policy, workload, service class, report class and resource group names, with their descriptions
What it keeps
It keeps all measurements, timestamps and hardware addresses (device numbers, LCU, CHPID, SSID, device types), because the analysis relies on them.
Good to know
- It handles BMC CMF Analyzer print listings (.txt or .zip). For other formats, ask us before you upload.
- It pseudonymises names. It does not remove measurements or hardware addresses, so treat the result as confidential.
- It is a small command-line tool that runs on your own workstation. The table that links pseudonyms to real names stays with you: do not upload it.
